Longlife Acidophilus FOS, L.Acidophilus and B.Lactis

Acidophilus is a supplement based on lactobacilli L. acidophilus and bifidobacteria B. lactis, with FOS (fructooligosaccharides). Contains 2.5 billion CFU, for the balance of intestinal flora, 30 chewable tablets.

These friendly bacteria, which colonize the gastrointestinal tract, aided by the action of FOS, promote the balance of the intestinal flora.

Active principles

Lactobacillus acidophilus: it is the lactobacillus most represented in the human intestine and is also present in other parts of the body (oral cavity, vagina). It intervenes in the assimilation and production of group B vitamins and enhances the activity of the beta-galactosidase enzyme, a factor which improves lactose tolerance in individuals with lactase deficiency.

Bifidobacterium lactis: mostly found in the colon. Its health properties concern: prevention of food allergies, reduction of virus and traveler's diarrhea, stimulation of the immune system, production of vitamins and antibacterial action against unwanted microorganisms.

Fructooligosaccharides (FOS): soluble dietary fibers resistant to digestion in the upper tract of the gastrointestinal tract, favor the increase of bifidobacteria in the large intestine, reducing the putrefactive flora and the relative microbial degradation.

The treatment of intestinal infections represents the most documented indication for lactic ferments. Lactobacilli and bifidobacteria play an important role in the control of intestinal pH by offering protection to the intestine, promoting purification of the organism.

The synergistic association of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria with FOS is also useful in case of poor digestion associated with dyspepsia and promising results have been obtained against Helicobacter pylori infection.

Probiotics show an action on cholesterol metabolism and a modest hypolipidemic activity has also been observed in FOS.
