Perennial herbaceous plant of the Polygonaceae family; from its decorticated and dried rhizome a powder rich in tannins is obtained, which give it astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, so much so that it can be used on burns and wounds.
HAIR: The main characteristic of Rhubarb is that it is a natural Golden Yellow colourant, but it can be mixed with other dyeing herbs to create customized tones. It also proves useful against excess sebum.
DYEING NOTES: Indicated for obtaining blond and golden tones on blond and light brown hair, also ideal for covering gray hair.
HISTORY and FUN FACT: the Greek etymology of the word rhubarb has a curious double meaning: Rha means both plant and Volga, the name of the river around which the first rhubarb cultivations in Europe arose.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: Mix the rhubarb and the mix of herbs eventually chosen with boiling water until you get the consistency of a yoghurt. Cover the container and leave to rest for 20 minutes. Apply the paste to clean, dry or slightly damp hair. Massage with light circular movements. Apply what remains on the lengths. Leave on for between 15 minutes and 2 hours: the processing time varies according to the shade you want to obtain. Rinse thoroughly and make a light, diluted shampoo, such as our shampoo with Sardinian wild helichrysum. A final rinse with water and vinegar helps keep the hair shiny and soft.
