Purple dyeing herb, depending on the base it changes from pink to plum. The hair is soft, smooth, prevents hair loss and is excellent as an anti-dandruff.

On the skin it can be used as an astringent and to reduce pores and to improve elasticity and wrinkles. Use in small quantities and mix with clay.

Hibiscus, whose Ayurvedic name is Jaswand, is an evergreen plant of the Malvaceae family, with an average height of around 2 meters. Its flower also boasts reflecting properties, with tones that vary from plum to strawberry.

HAIR: Regular use of Hibiscus keeps hair soft and untangled, strong and shiny, and is useful for fighting dandruff and scalp irritation. It helps prevent hair loss and stimulates hair growth.

DYEING NOTES: when used pure, the tones vary from pink to very dark plum, depending on the base colour.

SKIN: This plant is excellent for the skin, its high content of Vitamin C gives it antioxidant, healing and astringent properties, also useful for acne-prone skin and with dilated pores. It provides relief in case of itching, swelling and burning skin. Its emollient and humectant properties help improve the elasticity of the superficial epidermal cells, and make it particularly suitable for fighting the formation of wrinkles.

HISTORY and CURIOSITIES: Hibiscus is native to Asia Minor: it was the Flemish ambassador Ghislain de Busbeck, after a stay at the court of Suleiman the Magnificent in Istanbul, who sent some specimens to Holland, which then spread to the European continent and have arrived up to our times. From the flowers of Hibiscus sabdariffa we obtain Karkadè (or Carcadè), used for the production of herbal teas and jams.

HOW TO USE: Mix the powder with boiling water until it reaches the consistency of yogurt. Add any other herbs for a synergistic effect. Cover the container and leave to macerate for 15 minutes. Apply the paste to dry or slightly damp hair. Massage with light circular movements. Apply what remains also on the lengths. Leave on for 20/50 minutes, 2 hours as a reflecting pack. Rinse thoroughly and, if necessary, do a light and diluted shampoo, such as our wild Helichrysum shampoo from Sardinia.

As a face mask, the application time is 10 minutes. Do not let the mask dry, but keep it moist by dispensing water or Floral Waters.
