FEATURES AND EXTRACTION OF PRICKLY PEAR OIL:
The Opuntia ficus indica prickly pear is native to South America and contains only 5% oil, in fact the seeds are separated from the pulp, carefully washed, dried and then stored in a cool, dry place; subsequently by cold pressing a very rich and precious oil is obtained. The prickly pear oil obtained contains over 85% of unsaturated fatty acid with over 60% of linoleic acid (omega 6) which is considered an essential fatty acid for various metabolic processes in the body, since it is not capable of self-producing this acid. It is also rich in tocopherols (antioxidants) which help stabilize cell membranes and protect skin, eye and breast tissues which are more sensitive to oxidation.
